St John The Baptist Anglican Church offers Baptisms and Confirmations as part of its pastoral services. Christening or Baptism is a very important part of a child’s or adult’s life. Please contact the Parish Office for more information.

Q. When can I have my child baptized at St. John’s Bulimba?
A. Baptisms are on the 4th Sunday of the month within the 9.00am Family Eucharist.
Q. What preparation is required beforehand?
A. You are required to attend one of our Eucharist Services (7.30am & 9.00am Sunday or 10.00am Friday) for 12 weeks prior to the Baptism, plus attend a Baptism preparation, which is held on the 1st Sunday of the month immediately after the 9.00am Family Eucharist (approximated 10.15am and lasts about 20 minutes)
Q. Who can my child have as Godparents?
A. You can have any family and friends you think suitable for this important role provided they are Baptised Christians.
Q. How many godparents can my child have?
A. You can choose as many as you desire but 2-4 is the usual.
Q. Is there any cost for Baptism?
A. There is no cost for Baptism but a collection is taken during the service and any donations are gratefully received.
Confirmation is an important step on our spiritual journey with God whereby candidates confirm their baptismal vows and become active members of the Church. As Confirmation is regarded as an adult decision, usually those seeking confirmation are a minimum of 15 years of age.
General Baptism/Confirmation Ceremony
Our general Baptism/Confirmation ceremony package offers you a traditional service with our Rector. This includes our organist and your Baptism/Confirmation Certificate.
Maheno After Ceremony Package
This package consists of the Baptism/Confirmation ceremony and the hire of the Maheno Room for a period of two hours after your ceremony. This could be ideal for a cake cutting or morning/afternoon tea.
