Holy Week Service Times

About our Services

As part of our commitment to working together to share the good news in the wider community, you are invited to join us for the Palm Sunday Walk for Peace – starting at the Uniting Church and walking to the Memorial Park, stopping at various places including St John’s to pray and witness to the Gospel call for Peace. Then on Easter Sunday morning join us for a simple dawn lighting of the Easter fire and shared celebration of the Risen Lord by the water at Bulimba Riverside Park.

This is a simple, reflective candlelight service holding before God those parts of our hearts that need healing and reconciliation. Individual prayer and/or anointing for healing will be available. Some folk might also like to make their confession.
Join us for a beautiful blend of new and old as we share a simple meal together in the church reflecting on how Jesus used meals to teach, heal and build community which will be followed by the traditional footwashing – all are invited to wash and be washed… and then the Eucharist, Stripping of the Altar and a time of reflection in our very own Garden of Gethsemane.
Our service will use song, symbol and action to share the profound and solemn events of Good Friday. This is a moving and special time not to be missed.
After sunset we will celebrate the lighting of the new fire, blessing of the Paschal Candle and glorious celebration of the Eucharist. Lots of candles, incense, glorious music and bells! Many folk bring a small bell to joyously ring in the Gloria.
After the BCT Dawn Service we will have our joyous, celebration of our parish family Easter Day Services. We promise lots of joy and even an egg or two.
